This starter kit is not to tell you what to wear and what not to wear, but rather to serve as a fashion guide to those who have already decided to or want to dresses modestly and would like to know how to build an effective wardrobe.
Before I decided to embrace Modesty, the Holy Spirit kept directing me to do that for a long time and I remember how worried I was about looking frumpy and boring; and as usual I googled to see if there were people who already looked stylish and modest and to my surprise, I found out there was a thing like modest fashion bloggers.
So in that note, I’m putting this out here as proof that you can look stylish and modest at the same time; to you who’s torn because you don’t want to look like your granny. Lol. It contains not all, but the basics you’ll need to build a functional modest wardrobe. Using some items I have listed here, you would see that you may still be able to use some old clothing items.
Also, if you’d like to hire the service of a personal stylist to build your modest wardrobe or for a particular event, I’m more than glad to do that. Just send an email at: email@example.com
NB: Consultation is absolutely FREE! So send that email now!!!
- Modesty Panel
These babies are in fact a must for every Modesta. They give instant coverage to dresses or tops that are cut too low. You know how some dresses are close to perfect, except for its ‘overbearing cleavage potential’. One advantage of modesty panels is that they create a less frumpy look when compared to camisoles.
An average lady needs camisoles to wear under their outerwear most times. But for a Modesta, camisoles can be used for some chic layering; like a crop top( I’ll do a quick tutorial on that soon).
- Skirt Extenders
Skirt extenders are under-skirts mostly made with lace fabrics, worn to give extra length to previously owned short skirts and dresses. How awesome is it that you don’t have to part with all of your short skirts and dresses?! Superb!
This includes Palazzo, Skirts, Culottes, Jumpsuits, etc
No Caption Needed. Lol.
- Nude Makeup
Nothing perfects a modest look more that the perfect “no-makeup-makeup”. To achieve this all time classy look, stick to nude shades of makeup. But on a regular day, a quick eyebrow fix and a natural “I just rolled out of bed glow” will do.
- Minimal Jewelries
I’m not saying you should only wear studs as a Modesta, that’s just my preference( I wear studs 90% of the time). Some chic minimal jewelries are sure to jazz up your modest outfit.
- Statement Watch
You can never go wrong with a statement watch. Sometimes it’s all the accessory you need. For starters, collect at least one statement watch that would work with almost all your outfits. I’m not a watch person really, but I can’t help rocking the personalized watch hubby-in-a-bit gifted me.
Heels or flats, neutral or colored, doesn’t really matter. However, start by collecting neutral colors (nude, brown, black, white, etc.); they promise a functional wardrobe in the early stages.
