It’s more like “we(you & I) are bringing modesty back”. According to Wikipedia,
Modesty is a mode of dress and deportment intended to avoid encouraging sexual attraction in others; actual standards vary widely. In this use, it can be considered inappropriate or immodest to reveal certain parts of the body. A modest person would behave so as to avoid encouraging the sexual attention of others.
Modesty frees us from the bondage of worldly standard of beauty. The question then is, By who’s standard can we say we’re modest?
We’ve been blessed with the word of God (in 1Peter 3:3-4, 1Timothy 2: 9-10, Proverbs 31:30, 1Corinthians 6:19, e.t.c;) which tells us how God expects us to adorn ourselves; not to appeal to humans eyes but in a way that’s pleasing to him. However, it doesn’t end at our physical appearance, but also our attitude, behavior, language, relationship with others…our whole demeanor.
Pro Modesty is a call to the women of my generation to reject the standards society has set for us & follow a path that’s both pleasing to God and leads to a better life with Christ. We do not intend to mock or judge, but seek the spiritual wellbeing of my fellow sisters. How can we(women) say we’re Christians if we allow ourselves to be tools-of-lust which can stimulate thoughts, desire and actions that will cause others to sin?!
I pray that at the launch of this platform, God will use it to reach millions of souls all over the world; to the glory of his name.
